I know technically spring is here but, when I look outside the window, I don’t really see it. I don’t feel it when I step outside. It’s rather rainy and cold. However, isn’t that the entire personality of spring? Changing itself and everything around it.

So while we wait inside for slightly warmer days, we can still talk about other sides of hapiness. Below, there are a few activities that have almost the same effect on me as the sun <3

1. The aftermath of cleaning my windows

During the cold seasons, giving your windows a spa day is not quite as satisfying. The result kind of just resembles the starting point. Everything is still grey and lifeless. But, in spring, it is an absolute treat! Once all the dust, the dirt and the bird poop is washed away, my room starts basking in the sun. As if the rays heard of my bravery and blessed the hard work with some celestial honey.

It makes an unexpected difference. Not only in the overall aspect of the space, but in my mood as well. The plants are sparkling and the cherry tree right outside my window seems so close to me now. My dog loves finding sunny spots in the room and I do believe she appreciates this process as well, due to the sunlit patches being more intense.

As you can probably guess, she is also a solar creature. If merely cleaning the windows brings two children of the sun closer to the sunshine, I think it’s more than worth the acrobatics involved in the spraying and wiping procedure.

Cleaning really is an art.

2. Collecting and pressing flowers

Although done since the invention of flowers, books and the ability of pressing pages together, I like to think everything can be made even more whimsical. That is why, when I collect flowers, I choose specific ones. For example, samples from the ones my boyfriend got me. Or garden flowers from the summer I first fell in love.

The process doesn’t stop there! Once the flowers are pressed, dried and crisp, I think about ways of integrating them into art. For the love flowers, I decided to create a bookmark. They were cozily smushed between a layer of thick painting paper and a sheet of plastic, so I can admire them anytime I want. To hide any apparent mistakes or extra smudges of glue, I did what I always do when in these situations: I stuck a bow on top!

Right now, I have a work in progress, namely a single freesia from an endearing bouquet I was gifted. Now it is resting between the pages of my uni notebook. The plans for her are yet unknown.

PS: regarding unkown, to be more exact unknown timelines, the book nook mentioned in one of our first posts (check it out here if you are interested) is still not done. In fact, we haven’t touched it since my last update, aka when we worked on it for a couple of hours and I was about to lose my marbles.

3. Bringing blooming branches inside

During March, my parents have our trees trimmed. They get a new haircut basically. The cut-off branches (victims of the new style) end up in vases in our house. I can’t fully explain the reason behind this phenomenon, but the sight of them makes me extremely happy. More than that actually, they make me feel hopeful. Just like looking at pictures of the new town you are moving to next month. It is the same warm sensation along the tummy and chest.

Because spring is inherently something new. A beginning. Even if nothing seems different, it is. Just like skin cells, that renew every 7 years. The body looks the same, yet histologically novel. The branches are a reminder of that.

Another pro, they smell delightful! And whenever the little blossoms fall, it makes the table look enchanting, like a tiny forest for faeries. The scenery I always aspire to recreate. Bonus points if the branches are placed near other playful trinkets, such as figurines or miniatures.

4. Anything out of clay

I do think I would really enjoy a pottery class. Alas, until then, clay remains my main instrument. It feels so mystical, making sculptures out of a plain material! Just like baking or origami. One of the many many examples of how energy can never be created or destroyed, just meddled with.

My clay-meddling skills are quite versatile. Sometimes, I make simple storage places for different knick-knacks. I also crafted some earrings, an incense stick holder, a chicken figurine for my boyfriend (long story) and other such pieces. Maybe we will have an entire post dedicated to that, if you’re into clay like me.

My current project is a gift for one of my closest friends. With her birthday coming up in May, a girl can never be too early. I won’t describe the gift in much detail in case she is reading this post (if so, hellooo).

While working on such things, I do prefer some background noise, especially if the movements of the molding are repetitive and not that captivating. This time, I put on a couple of episodes from season 1 of One Tree Hill. I already saw it last year and it isn’t even a proper rewatch. I am just choosing some nostalgic episodes, usually from season 1 or 2 because those are the vibes I am looking for while crafting.

It makes me feel like a main character in a romcom, just minding her own artsy business, before the guy she “isn’t into” throws pebbles at her window to get her attention. And what vibe could be more in tune with the activity?

5. Manifesting with mugs

When I visited my sister in March, she took me to a gigantic second-hand store, the kind of place that had literally anything from 2000s DVDs to retro furniture. And there I found a 2€ mug with a painting of Tuscany on it. It was even made in Italy, lucky me! And I thought “I love Italy, I wanna visit Italy more, so why not buy it?”. Now, every time I have my morning coffee, I look at the cup and visualize my being there. Morning coffees are already making me feel at peace and abundant (but I promised myself this post wouldn’t be about coffee) so why not use all this juicy energy to manifest an Italian vacation?

Just like the Moon pointed out in her previous posts, manifestation can be done in any way that makes you feel connected. If it makes you feel the flow of energy and magic in your fingertips, then it’s already working! And if your eyes are sparkling as well, you got yourself a prophecy.

So use any mundane object to manifest, especially if that particular object is linked to a situation that makes you glow. Another personal favorite would be showers or baths. I feel my best when I am surrounded by steamy water so my mood is already relaxed and ready to receive even more tranquility. That’s the ideal time for me to visualize, create and see clearly what I desire more of in my life.

I am a watery being, but maybe it’s different for you. The key is to experiment until you discover what works for you and then the absolute fun begins. The world is your oyster (pun intended)!

So what will it be? How do you wish to make yourself feel joy and passion until the sun takes that job off your shoulders?  Whether it is through decorating, creating, tidying up or imagining the perfect holiday for yourself, make sure it lights that inner fire. That way, it will keep you extra warm and cozy.

  1. I feel like the world is my oyster most when I am just sitting on a train. There is nothing quite like the rhythmic clacking of the rails, the comforting side to side sway, and sharing space with people on a journey or just a cozy little escapade.:)

I have to admit that your oyster is a truly cozy eastern paradise. I loved the window cleaning argument, it reminded me of what my mom always said, windows are the eyes of the house. Why wouldn’t you want clear vision when there is so much beauty to see (when it is your choice)? This has been perhaps imbedded into my DNA, because even after moving out, at the first sign of spring, the cleaning cloths appear and the shelved climbing skills come out of hibernation. 🙂

Thank you for this post. Even though March has passed, the weather in the Alps can still be less than ideal for a summer soul. I am off to get myself a manifestation mug! Hopefully, your Italy dreams come true soon (manifesting hard for you). :*

    XOXO, Kurtiboo :*

    1. Moms know best! We hope the summer will show its pretty pretty face even in the Alps as soon as possible <3

      1. Hehe, thank you sweeties! <3
